Cream Malai Cake

A unique and unusual cake from Indian desserts recipes, Malai cake is a chocolate and orange flavored delicious cream cake. Coco powder gives it chocolate taste while orange peels make it yummy, walnuts give a little of crunch and cream makes it delicious.

Note: You can use orange essence instead of orange peels if you want.

Yield: 1 Cake (4 Servings)

  • 1 cup plain flour (maida)
  • 2 cup cream also known as Malai in India
  • 4  eggs
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup coco powder
  • 2 tbsp orange peel or use orange essence
  • 4 tbsp walnut beans (Akhrot) chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter for greasing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for dusting


Mix one cup sugar and 4 whole eggs in a bowl, mix well and make sure no bubbles left.

Now add plain flour, 1/2 tsp Baking powder in bowl and mix well. Make sure there should not be any lumps forms.

Add one cup cream (Malai), again mix well.

Now take another bowl and divide the mixture into two equal parts.

Add orange peel into one bowl, and add 2 tbsp coco powder into another bowl.

Add Walnuts in both bowls and mix well.

Take the cake teen with butter paper and grease with butter.

Add the orange flavored mixture in cake teen.

Add coco powder flavored mixture in cake teen.

Mix them a little.

Now bake it in oven at 180 celsius for 25 minutes.

Take out the cake in a dish.

You may decorate the cake in any possible way, for example, using pistachios.

Serve with cream (malai).
