Traditional Asian desserts such as Goreng Pisang (Banana Fritters) are popular Malay snacks enjoyed by all Malaysians. This simple banana dessert is usually savoured as afternoon tea snack. It also tastes great with black coffee.
These fried fritters are really quick to make, however be prepared to use plenty of oil for deep frying and a basket lined with towel tissue to absorb the oil of the just fried banana fritters.
- 6 Ripe Bananas; medium sized
- 300 g Plain Flour
- 4 Medium Eggs
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- Oil for deep frying
Beat eggs into flour and mix well, adding water gradually until batter is smooth and creamy. Add salt and stir again. Leave aside first.
Cut bananas into halves. Dip each banana slice wholly into flour batter (do not overcoat) and gently put into hot oil. Deep fry until fritters are golden brown.
Drain well on towel tissue before serve. Best eaten while hot as fritters will turn soggy when cooled.
