Steamed Garlic Chicken is one of the easiest Chinese chicken recipes that you can make by yourself. Besides, it tastes really good. It is also known to be one of the authentic Chinese recipes served during Chinese family meals.
This recipe is meant for 2 persons. You can serve the chicken with rice or together with another vegetable dish.
- 2 chicken whole legs (or not whole)
- 4 cloves garlic; minced
- 2 onions; sliced
- 1 tbsp maggi seasoning
- 1 cup water
- pepper; to taste
- 1 1/2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 3 tbsp Chinese cooking wine; Shao Hsing Hua Tiao
Clean chicken whole legs and marinate with sesame oil, pepper, Chinese wine, Maggi seasoning and dark soy sauce. Leave aside for 20 minutes.
Heat wok (medium heat)with oil. Stir fry garlic and onions until fragrant. Add in 4 tbsp water and continue to stir fry for 3 minutes. Pour over chicken whole legs.
Steam chicken over high heat for 20 minutes or until chicken is cooked. Ensure steamer is covered throughout steaming.
Serves well hot with rice for 2 pax.
