Tandoori Paneer Tikka or Barbecue Cottage Cheese

Paneer tikka is an Indian dish made from chunks of paneer marinated in spices and grilled in a tandoor. Just a fascinating glimpse of paneer along with other veggies pierced into a skewer is enough to water any mouth. Its tempting appearance and flavorsome taste is the best way “to treat” your hunger.

Serves: 4


  • Paneer(cottage cheese)- 1/2 kg
  • Red, Green, yellow capsicum- 2
  • 1 tbsp oil for cooking


  • Hung curd- 1/2 cup
  • Ginger, garlic paste- 1 tbsp
  • Roasted & ground cumin seeds – 1tsp
  • Carom seeds(ajwain)- 1tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder- 2 tsp
  • Garam masala- 1tsp
  • Turmeric- 1/4 tsp
  • Lemon juice- 2 tsp
  • Dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi)- 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

How to make Hung Curd:

To make hung curd, you need almost double the curd so that after it sheds the water, desired quantity could be obtained. For instance after hanging a full cup of curd you will get half cup of hung curd. Take curd in a muslin cloth and hang it for 4-5 hrs and let the water drain completely. You will get cheese like thick yoghurt called hung curd.
