Tomato Tortellini Soup

This Tomato Tortellini Soup is ideal for a cool evening. It’s quite simple and doesn’t require much time to prepare it. The recipe has all chances to become a favorite one in your house!


  • 2 Tbs. butter
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 32 oz. chicken broth
  • 1 jar (24 oz.) marinara sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) Italian style diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 bag frozen cheese tortellini (1619 oz.)


Firstly, melt butter in a large stock pot. Secondly, add onions, salt, and pepper. You need to saute onions over medium heat until they become translucent (or light golden) and soft. Then add garlic and cook for several minutes (up to 5).

After this add chicken broth, marinara sauce, and diced tomatoes. Don’t add basil at once. First you need to bring soup to a simmer. When the soup starts to boil add tortellini. Cover with a lid. Cook for some more minutes. Check if tortellini is tender. If it’s soft, this means the soup is ready.
